The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), through the National Secretariat for Digital Rights (Sedigi), has extended the deadline for the Public Consultation on the “Ethical Use Guide for Artificial Intelligence for the Brazilian User”, an initiative developed with technical support from the Artificial Intelligence Center at the University of São Paulo (C4AI/USP), under Action 50 of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA). The new deadline for submitting contributions is now May 4, 2026.
The Guide, prepared in partnership with the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of São Paulo (CIAAM/USP) and with support from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), addresses key topics related to AI application, such as: users’ rights and duties, associated risks, responsibilities of involved agents, ethical principles, and governance mechanisms.
With the extended deadline, participation opportunities are broadened for various stakeholders, including companies, experts, public sector, academia, and civil society, enabling content refinement before its final consolidation.
Given the advancement of AI-based solutions and the growing regulatory relevance of the topic, this Public Consultation represents a key opportunity to influence the development of guidelines aligned with both Brazilian specifics and the current legal framework.
Peck Advogados continuously monitors regulatory and governance developments in artificial intelligence and has a specialized team ready to support organizations in analyzing the Guide, assessing legal impacts, and preparing technical contributions to the Public Consultation.
